Shoot Four - Straight Images

This image is abstract as it's shot using a macro lens, therefore I was able to get extremely close to the orgainc object of a a pepper which makes it hard for the viewer to identify what the object is. The seeds on this pepper may create further confusion in the viewers mind as they initially may not recognise these as seeds, I also chose to convert this image into black and white in order to make the image more ambiguous and unidentifiable.

The pepper in this image is ambiguous as the viewer can't identify what the object is. The lines running down to the stump of the pepper make this image appear to of a leg of meat due to the shape of the object; however, the seeds on this object then throw off the viewer again, creating further confusion as seeds are not found of meat.

This image creates depth due to the foreground being in focus, whilst the background is blurred, this is known as a narrow depth of field- my low aperture would have allowed me to achieve this effect. The shiny and dark sections of this image appear to be blood on the almost meat-looking object.

This image is of the inside of the pepper, the seeds all congregate in one section which would create questions in the viewer's mind as to why they are here; moreover the fade in colour from the left to the right may imply that section sod this object are more alive than other sections; as when humans are alive they're considered to be full of colour; in comparison to when they're dying as they become drained of colour due to their now pale complexion.

I wanted to photograph the inside of the pepper closely as this links to skin, by showing organic objects too have skin, likewise to us, I wanted to make individual's question their simple beliefs about society. Moreover, if individuals question whether the object has skin then they can therefore question whether it has feelings too- as the linking of the skin corresponds to the dehumanisation of such objects.

This image creates ambiguity in the viewer as it's not clear what this object is, I chose to frame this photograph this way in order to capture the 'tunnel-like' vision into the object, which would allow the viewer to feel emerged in the image itself, almost as though they are a part of this strange scene.
